Drope, whose given name is Pedro Figueiredo, was raised in Niterói, a small city across the bay from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His artwork is characterized by a keen sense of contrast, which he attributes to the unique juxtaposition of wealth and poverty he witnessed growing up. From his vantage point, he saw luxury hotels situated along the pristine beaches of Rio, while the impoverished favelas sat just behind them in the city's hills and mountains, highlighting the stark dichotomy of Brazil's social and economic landscape.
When he was 16, Pedro emigrated with his family to the United States, where he discovered his passion for tattooing. Despite having no formal art education, he had always enjoyed drawing and painting. In late 2018, Pedro began his tattooing career as an apprentice in Miami, Florida, where he honed his skills and developed a unique style that has since gained him a reputation as one of the most promising young tattoo artists in the country.
Today, Drope's work continues to reflect his upbringing in Brazil and his love for tattooing. Through his distinctive style, he explores the interplay of light and dark, rich and poor, and the beauty and complexity of the human experience. Drope remains committed to his craft, always striving to push the boundaries of what is possible with ink and skin.
My journey started with childhood sketches and has grown to include everything from street art to classical illustrations. Each experience has shaped my skills and vision.
I have a unique style that blends classic and renaissance art influences, thanks to years of exploring different media and techniques. This eclectic background gives my work a special twist, making each piece stand out.
Now, I bring all of that artistic history to my tattooing. My goal is to create tattoos that are not just marks on the skin, but works of art that tell a story and resonate on a deeper level.
Each of my tattoo designs typically takes around 7-8 hours to complete, although the duration may vary depending on the complexity of the design and the client's skin. To ensure that we stay on schedule, I kindly request that you arrive on time and try to come alone. You may bring one guest if you wish, but please keep in mind that we must maintain a calm and focused atmosphere during the tattooing process.
Please note that I will only tolerate late arrivals up to 15 minutes past the appointment time. If you need to reschedule, kindly do so at least 24 hours in advance of our set date. Failure to do so, or a no-show without any prior communication, will forfeit your deposit.
During the tattoo session, smoking and drinking are strictly prohibited. If you show up to your appointment intoxicated or under the influence of any substances, I will cancel the appointment, and you will forfeit your privilege to get tattooed by me. It is my priority to ensure a safe and positive tattooing experience for all my clients.
Each project is different from client to client. How many sessions I will use on one sleeve/backpiece i.e., varies from person to person.
